And with that came automatically the changes that had to be made for the changed way of granting rights to the location.

For now still in beta, but hope to release it soon.

If you like, you could try it a a beta tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.lunafaqt

Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-82684285438676134672015-09-27T13:59:00.002+02:002015-09-27T13:59:24.255+02:001.23
On some android versions without a hardware settings button, the settings menu was unreachable so i added a action bar with the settings as action item and the rest of the menu items in the overflow menu.
If you have the location on automatic, there is a line in the settings menu that shows the last calculated position.
On the moon widget you could choose to show the transit time, but it was never shown.
On the info screen i have added a close button so you can close the screen instead of using the back button.
On some phones the sun-moon widget would take 3 by 2 cells instead of 2 by 1
And last but not least, by accidentally including too much of the google play library i needed 4 extra permissions (that i didn't even use)
The mayor improvements are on the moon widget. Each moon widget has its own settings for background transparency, shadow transparency and the text items to show on each corner. Those settings can be recalled again when you touch the left 3rd of the widget, the right 2/3rd shows the main app.
You can now for instance add a moon widget without any text. You can also resize the moon widget. It might be possible that the moon image is not directly updated on some phones and the image looks fuzzy. When the widget is redrawn after a while, the image must be correct again.
Scaling of the main and calendar screen has also been updated and fits better on larger screens.
Since the last update some errors kept returning, specifically in the billing routines. Those routines were based on the examples provided by Google and they made some changes that i also had to make.
Also, on the calendar view, some people reported ads popping up, despite buying the ad remover.
One of the moon phase descriptions in Russian was double, corrected that also.
Working now on a new larger moon widget with configurable text items.

Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-5590759734843198302013-02-13T21:26:00.000+01:002013-02-13T21:26:07.956+01:001.15Just released version 1.15. Many people requested a paid version without the ads, so here it finally is. With the new billing library it was not that hard to implement it.
For the ones who don't want ads, go to the menu and choose remove ads, it will take you to the market where you can finish your purchase and if all goes well the ads should disappear.

Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-33979715037356080192013-01-23T18:53:00.001+01:002013-01-23T18:55:52.949+01:001.14Well, something went wrong and i accidentally published a wrong version. So i had to publish a new version with the test code removed.
The billing permission stayed.
I was thinking about a paid version for a while, but couldn't decide how to implement it, a separate app, a key app or in-app billing. Google recently updated their libraries and made it simpler for developers to implement in-app billing. So now i am trying to add in-app billing to remove the ads.

Stay tunedRonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-63583829131697361072012-09-21T20:15:00.001+02:002013-01-23T18:55:25.747+01:001.13Released a new version today with the choice to display all times in 24 or 12 hour format. Because of the extra space needed, the percentage moon lit on the widgets is removed if a font size other than default is chosen.
I got some reports that the moon image on the main screen of the app was not showing on the Nexus 7. There was an issue due to the larger screen of the Nexus 7, also fixed that.
Next thing i am going to work on is a payed version which removes the ads on the free version.
I have added an Italian translation thanks to the great help from Marco Grasso (MarcusOptimus), moderator at the Italian android website http://www.androidworld.it.Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-49674144158419013302012-01-10T17:32:00.000+01:002012-01-10T17:32:16.671+01:001.10aThis is an update for the error in 1.10 affecting users of android 2.2 or lower (almost half of the installations).

It should all work again now.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-26301730028844664222012-01-10T09:59:00.002+01:002012-01-10T10:00:50.281+01:001.10 errorI'm going to release 1.10a asap. In 1.10 i mistakenly used a function that's only present in Android version 2.3 or higher so for many users the app stopped working. I' m very sorry for that and i am going to fix this today.

Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-43650525042794895672012-01-09T08:44:00.001+01:002012-01-10T09:56:23.769+01:001.10After some complaints about Lunafaqt draining the battery ( I got a screenshot from a user where Lunafaqt used 12% of the battery in the last 22 hours) i decided to change the way the widgets were updated.
I used to use the "default" way (just tell Android to update every 30mins.) but this method is waking up the phone even when it is in sleep mode. Also the location determination could use some rework.
So now i am using the AlarmManager to set a timer to update the widgets. This method is not waking up the phone when it is in sleepmode so it is not unnecessary using resources. The update interval is now variable and is adjustable in the settings.Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-14724516388919339162011-11-22T19:55:00.001+01:002012-01-10T10:00:58.416+01:001.9In this release i have added a home button on the empty spot on the main screen. This will take you (just as the menu item) to the current date/time.
A user noticed that the moon age was not correct, and i have fixed the calculation. Now it correctly shows the number of days, hours and minutes since the last new moon.
Also fixed the sun rise/set times. If the sunrise/set times were past, it was showing the times for the next day. It now shows the whole day the times for the current day.
Fixed Spanish East/West translation error

Thats all.Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-69462143441527324032011-10-08T19:24:00.000+02:002011-10-08T19:24:44.909+02:001.8Just released version 1.8 beside some changes to minimize memory usage i added an option to change the font size for the widgets.
A user noticed that the moon set time was equal to the sunset time when the moon should not set at all that day. This was an error that appeared when more than one widget was added to the home screen and only on the second widget (and further).Ronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158222756009148417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734071846578733184.post-41291936029473094232011-08-21T11:21:00.001+02:002011-08-21T12:06:27.093+02:001.7It's been some time now. Holidays, some other projects, but found the time to update Lunafaqt. Major change this time is the adjustable transparency of the widget(s).
I wanted to change the transparency real-time, but if you are using an background image, as i do, it cannot be done with the standard functions. It took some time to figure it all out, but found a way to accomplish this. Despite working om the emulator, desire, galaxy S, it is using undocumented code. So it might work on your phone now, but there's no guarantee that it will be in the future. You can change the transparency in the settings menu.
Also added a changelog to show the changes with the various releases.

Enjoy.
